He kupu. He whakaaro

As a researcher, I'm expected to write a lot, and be good at it. Well truth is, I'm not very good at writing academically. I much prefer to write creatively, seeing where my thoughts take me, and just writing and writing. Since becoming an academic, my writing style and tone have all changed, and I'm constantly thinking before I write, when actually, creative writing is thinking as you write, and letting it all spill out on the paper first. Thoughts are able to be articulated and understood when they're written down. I've often written something that didn't seem at all interesting to begin with, and then 12 months later, or 5 years later, it becomes a piece of gold - a moment captured in words, and thoughts, on paper, that might have much more significance or value as time passed.

I hope to use these metaphorical pages as a canvas to write whatever I like. I refuse to write like an academic here and will instead spew words out into these webpages as a record of my thoughts and maybe one day, I might revisit these writings and laugh. Or cry. Or reminisce :) These writings will be about everything and anything but mostly about my experiences and things I find interesting.
